The game includes many new race-events, including stadium events. It features Ken Block, Travis Pastrana, Tanner Foust, Dave Mirra, and Mohammed Ben Sulayem. It is also the first and only game in the series to be available on a Nintendo home console and the last game in the series to be released on handhelds. Dirt 2 is the first game in the series since McRae's death in 2007 and the last to feature his name in the title. Combine this with the fact that rally is one car on the track at the time and it feels like racing in a bit of a ghost town.Īnyway, to summarise, the gameplay is decent but the sense of progress is poor.Colin McRae: Dirt 2 (stylised as Colin McRae: DiRT 2) is a racing video game developed and published by Codemasters in 2009, first for the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii and Xbox 360, and then later for PC platforms ( Windows, OS X). It's essentially "complete this triangle to see the next triangle". Even though you are in theory working your way up through a series, there's no sense of higher standing or presence in the rally world. In Dirt 3, there's only a series of triangles representing different race types, and it just feels a bit sterile. ![]() In Dirt 2, there was a central hub, where you could go into your motorhome and move around a complex and decide what type of race to compete in. However, I would say that the experience of playing the game feels quite 'lonely'. The sounds are great on track too, and it's difficult enough that there is a feeling of accomplishment when you drift around a turn nicely. The gameplay itself is of a high standard, with the car handling seeming quite realistic. However this one, as Amazon's description of 3 stars says: "It's okay". 9/10 - OXMįirst off, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the previous games in the Dirt series.
